Ninja Slushi Hennessy Slush Recipe

Summer is the perfect time for a cold frozen drink, especially after a long day when you want a refreshing drink without a lot of work. That is why I love using my Ninja SLUSHi for this Hennessy Slush Recipe.
The machine makes the whole process easy and gives the drink a smooth, consistent slushy texture without much effort.
I have made this homemade Ninja SLUSHi Hennessy Slush many times, and it has become one of my favorite ways to enjoy a frozen drink at home.
The Hennessy adds a bold flavor, while the cold slushy texture makes every sip refreshing. It is simple to prepare and nice for hot days or relaxing evenings.

Which Hennessy Is Best for a Slush
I keep the choice of cognac simple for frozen drinks. The cold temperature can soften some flavors, so I like a bottle that still has enough flavor after the drink freezes.
You do not need the most expensive bottle to get a good result. Here are some of my favorites:
- Hennessy V.S. – Hennessy V.S. works very well for a mixed slush because it has enough flavor to stand up to fruit and sweet mixers. It is also more affordable than the older expressions. I would reach for this one when making a larger batch or when the cognac is going into a drink with strong fruit flavors.
- Hennessy V.S.O.P. – Hennessy V.S.O.P. has a smoother, more developed flavor than V.S. That can give your frozen drink a softer and more rounded taste. I would use it when you want the slush to feel a little more polished. Since the drink also contains fruit and sweetness, you can still taste the cognac without needing to use a large amount.
- Hennessy X.O. – Hennessy X.O. is a much more expensive choice, and I do not think you need it for a mixed frozen drink. Much of the extra detail in an expensive cognac can get covered by fruit, sweetness, and the very cold texture. A less expensive bottle makes more sense here, especially when you are mixing the drink with other strong flavors.
Why Is My Ninja SLUSHi Showing an Error
An error does not always mean the machine has a serious problem. Several things can cause trouble, including the fill level, mixture, ingredients, setup, or cleaning. The Ninja SLUSHi requires at least 16 ounces of liquid and can hold up to 64 ounces.
It also should not have ice, solid fruit pieces, hot ingredients, or other items that the machine is not designed to handle.
What Should You Check First
Start with the fill level. Too little liquid can cause problems, so make sure there is at least 16 ounces in the vessel.
Next, look at the mixture. For this recipe, blend the frozen strawberries with the liquid before adding it to the machine.
Check that your ingredients are smooth and that you have not added ice or large solid pieces. The machine has a maximum liquid capacity of 64 ounces, so do not fill past that point.
The setup important, too. The motor base should sit on a flat, solid surface, and the auger, vessel, bail handle, condensation catch, and drip tray should be installed correctly. The machine should also be clean before use.
If everything looks right but an error continues, stop and check the machine guide before trying to run another batch. A clean setup and the correct liquid amount can prevent many common problems.
What Are the Ingredients in a Hennessy Slushie
Every ingredient in this drink has a purpose. Once you know what each one does, it becomes much easier to swap ingredients while keeping the right flavor, sweetness, and slushy texture.
- Pineapple Juice – (3 cups): Pineapple juice brings the main fruit flavor and gives the slush a sweet, tropical taste. It also adds enough liquid for the blender and Ninja SLUSHi to work with. I use 3 cups in this recipe. Choose a juice you enjoy drinking on its own because its flavor stays noticeable in the finished drink.
- Water – (1 cup): Water helps balance the pineapple juice and keeps the drink from becoming too sweet or too strong. I use 1 cup in this recipe. You can also skip the water and use 4 cups of pineapple juice for a sweeter drink with a stronger fruit taste.
- Simple Syrup – (¼ cup): Simple syrup adds sweetness and lets you adjust the drink to your taste. I use ¼ cup as a starting point. You can add a little more or less based on how sweet your pineapple juice is. I recommend tasting the mixture before adding it to the Ninja SLUSHi.
- Frozen Strawberries – (3 cups): Frozen strawberries add color, fruit flavor, and a thicker texture to the slush. I use 3 cups, but 2 to 3 cups will work well. You can also use other frozen fruit. Just make sure to blend it well with the liquid before adding the mixture to the Ninja SLUSHi.
- Hennessy – (½ to 1 cup): Hennessy adds the warm, bold flavor that makes this a spiked slush. I use ½ to 1 cup, depending on how strong I want the drink. Keep in mind that too much alcohol can make the mixture harder to freeze properly in the Ninja SLUSHi.

How to Make Hennessy Slush in a Ninja SLUSHi
The steps are easy to follow, and a few small details will help you get the right texture from the start.
1. Blend the Fruit Mixture Until Smooth
Add 3 cups pineapple juice, 1 cup water, 2–3 cups frozen strawberries, and ¼ cup simple syrup to a blender. Blend until the strawberries are fully broken down and the mixture looks smooth.
I used 3 cups of frozen strawberries. Start with the amount that suits your taste, then taste the mixture. If you want more sweetness, add a little more simple syrup.
For a sweeter, more fruit-forward slush, replace the 1 cup water with 1 cup additional pineapple juice.

2. Add the Hennessy and Check the Amount
Pour the blended strawberry-pineapple mixture into a suitable container and add ½–1 cup Hennessy. Stir or blend briefly so the alcohol is spread through the mixture.
Check the total amount before adding it to the machine. Do not exceed the Ninja SLUSHi’s 64-ounce capacity. The machine also requires at least 16 ounces of liquid.
For this recipe, I would start with ½ cup Hennessy if you prefer a lighter drink. You can use closer to 1 cup for a stronger flavor, but remember that alcohol can make frozen drinks softer.

3. Add the Mixture to the Ninja SLUSHi
Make sure the machine is set up correctly on a flat, solid surface. The auger and vessel should be locked into place, and the drip tray should be installed before you add the mixture.
The machine guide also says not to add ice, hot ingredients, or solid ingredients such as whole fruit or frozen fruit directly into the machine.
Open the cover and pour in the blended mixture through the easy-fill port. Close the cover before starting the machine.

4. Select the Spiked Slush Preset
Press the power button and choose Spiked Slush. This preset is made for beverages that contain alcohol, including drinks such as margaritas and rosé-based frozen drinks.
The preset begins at its default temperature for the frozen texture. You can adjust the temperature with the control panel if you want to change the texture. I started with the preset and let the machine do its work.

5. Let the Slush Freeze and Thicken
Allow the machine to churn and freeze the mixture until it reaches the texture you want.
The Ninja SLUSHi guide notes that frozen drinks can take about 15–60 minutes depending on the ingredients, volume, and starting temperature.
My batch took about 25 minutes. You may see the texture change slowly as the mixture gets colder and thicker.
The machine will beep when the drink reaches the selected temperature, and the temperature lights will stop pulsing and remain solid.

6. Adjust the Thickness Before Serving
Use the temperature controls on the side panel if you want to make the drink thicker or softer. I like a smooth slush that can move through the spout without being too thin.

7. Dispense and Serve the Hennessy Slush
Place your cup on the drip tray under the handle. Slowly pull the dispensing handle to release the slush, then let the handle return to its original position when your cup is full.
Serve the drink right away for the thickest texture. The machine can continue running to maintain the frozen temperature while you dispense, but the guide says not to turn off the preset until all the frozen drink has been dispensed.

Tips I Follow When Making Hennessy Slush
1. Use Frozen Fruit – Use frozen fruit when possible to help the mixture freeze and reach a good slush texture.
2. Let the Machine Rest – Let the Ninja SLUSHi sit upright for at least two hours before using it for the first time.
3. Clean Between Batches – Clean the vessel and auger well between batches, especially when changing the drink flavor.
Serving Ideas I Suggest for Hennessy Slush
A cold glass makes this slush even more enjoyable, and a few simple touches can make it look inviting without much extra work. Pour the slush into a chilled glass to help it stay cold and keep its frozen texture longer.
Add a pineapple wedge or a few frozen strawberries to the rim for a simple garnish that matches the drink.
For a sweeter finish, you can coat the rim with a little sugar before pouring. When serving several people, keep the drink close to the Ninja SLUSHi and pour each glass fresh so the slush stays thick instead of melting while it sits.
What to Serve With Hennessy Slush
This slush has a sweet, fruity flavor, so I like to serve it with foods that bring a little salt or savory taste to the table.
Fresh fruit skewers make a light choice, while grilled shrimp adds a smoky flavor that pairs well with the drink. A simple cheese board also works nicely.
For an easy spread, sliders, chips, and salsa are good options. Keeping the food simple lets the Hennessy slush remain the main drink without making the meal feel too heavy.
Storing Leftover Hennessy Slush
I prefer to make only what I plan to serve because frozen drinks have the best texture right from the machine.
The Ninja SLUSHi can keep the drink frozen while running, but after serving, transfer any leftovers to a clean, sealed container and refrigerate them. Use within 1–2 days for the best quality.
The texture may become thinner after melting. Re-chill or run it through the Ninja SLUSHi again before serving.
Avoid freezing the melted slush in a regular freezer, as the alcohol can keep it soft.
Ninja Slushi Hennessy Slush Recipe FAQs
I keep these questions focused on details that can affect your results. This section helps answer common concerns before you make the slush.
1. How Strong Does This Hennessy Slush Taste Once It’s Frozen?
The strength depends on how much Hennessy you use. Since the recipe allows ½ to 1 cup, you can adjust it to your taste. Freezing can also make the drink taste slightly milder, so start with less if unsure.
3. Can I Add Ice to Make the Slush Colder?
No, you should not add ice to the Ninja SLUSHi. The machine freezes the liquid itself, so ice is not needed. Adding ice can affect the liquid balance and may prevent the slush from reaching the smooth texture you want.
4. Should I Strain the Strawberry Mixture Before Using It?
You do not need to strain the strawberry mixture if your blender makes it smooth. However, you can use a fine mesh strainer to remove seeds or small fruit pieces. This gives the finished Hennessy slush a smoother texture.
5. Can I Make the Fruit Mixture Ahead of Time?
Yes, you can prepare the fruit mixture ahead of time. Blend the pineapple juice, strawberries, water, and simple syrup, then cover and refrigerate it. When ready to make the slush, stir the mixture well and add the Hennessy.
